Diaspora Researchers' Expert Meeting
Participation of diaspora researchers in the production of knowledge in the field of migration & development and better governance
ADPC organised a diaspora research expert meeting on October 2nd and 3rd as part of the preparations for its research project on Building Institutional Cooperation between Diaspora and Homeland Governments in Africa. The objectives of the meeting are:

- To provide a platform for the diaspora researchers in which they can exchange knowledge and experience in the field, establish transnational contacts and enter into joint research collaborations;
- To strengthen the participation of the diaspora researchers in the production of knowledge in the field of migration & development and better governance;
- To stimulate the inclusion of the diaspora voices and visions in policy deliberations in the form of publications, public debates and expert meetings;

Participants to this meeting have been drawn from a cross-section of diaspora researchers and experts from the continent, Europe and United States of America with extensive expertise on migration and development. They include:

Professor John Oucho, Marie Curie Chair Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations School of Health and Social Studies, The University of Warwick Coventry, UK.
Dr. Mariama Awumbila, Centre for Migration Studies (CMS) at the University of Ghana.
Dr. Osman Alhassan, Centre for Migration Studies (CMS) at the University of Ghana.
Asubonteng-Manu Edward Kwadwo, Centre for Migration Studies (CMS) at the University of Ghana.
Professor Jennifer Brinkerhoff, Associate Professor Public Administration & International Affairs, George Washington University.
Dimitria Clayton, Ministry for Integration of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany.
Olukunle Ojeleye, Department of War Studies King’s College, University of London.
Professor Christian Anyanwu, Department of Social Sciences Medgar Evers College of City University of New York.

The expert meeting will take place at the Lloyd Hotel, Amsterdam, on the 2nd and 3rd of October, 2008. The expert meeting is organised in collaboration with MacArthur Foundation and Oxfam Novib.
