Jide Olatuyi is the director at POLICY CONSULT in Abuja-Nigeria \u2013 a non-government organization (NGO) dedicated to research, advocacy, capacity strengthening and policy development. Jide was part of the West Africa team that undertook the just concluded study on the impact of COVID-19 on the drivers of Conflicts and Structural Vulnerabilities in Africa. The research was jointly coordinated by AU\u2019s African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and the African Centre for Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD). He currently manages many regional and continental research in Peace, Security, Stability, and good governance. He is a lead consultant with the ECOWAS\u2019 division of Human Security and Civil Society on the development of Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) on Mixed Migration for Frontline Service Providers. His expertise is diverse in research\/data collection\/analysis, peacebuilding, security, stability, global trade competitiveness, international migration and development policy research.<\/p>\n

Jide was the national expert on the \u201cEvaluation of the EU\u2019s external action support in the area of migration (2009-2019) in Nigeria\u201d where he helps finalize the project
\nagenda for the country\u2019s assessments of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
\nchallenges to migration projects\u2019 performance between (2009 and 2019). Also, he is
\none of the key Experts on the Review of Nigeria\u2019s 2014 Migration Profile. In February 2020, he assisted in disaggregating complex migration configurations leading to the development of National Action Plan for the implementation of the Global Compact on Migration (GCM) in Nigeria. Also, he was a former Peace, Conflict Transformation and Development Journalist in West Africa and a former adjunct university lecturer.\u00a0 He\u2019s had a diversified, successful, and result-based career in the media, civil society, international migration, and development policy formulation.<\/p>\n

In the 90\u2019s, he followed different international trainings in New Delhi (NIEPA) and Paris (IIEP) in educational planning and administration. Prof. Aly Tandian is Lecturer and Researcher in Sociology at the University Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis in Senegal, a Titular Lecturer for African Universities of the Conseil African et Malagache pour l\u2019Enseignement Sup\u00e9rieur (CAMES) and a Lecturer at the European Academy in Berlin, Germany. To date, he defended a doctoral thesis in sociology at the University of Toulouse 2 Le Mirail in France where he later taught for several years before joining the Sociology department of Gaston Berger University. Through his academic career, Mr. Tandian has supervised many doctoral theses in Senegal, Spain and France.<\/span><\/p>\n

Felicity Okoth is a migration specialist with 5 years of research and pedagogic experience drawn from working with think tanks based in East Africa. She is a research officer at the African Migration and Development Policy Centre (AMADPOC) and a Tutorial Fellow in the Department of Political Studies\/Communication Studies at Moi University. She teaches undergraduate courses touching on International Migration and Intercultural Relations in the Department of Political Science on a part-time basis and, the Department of Communication Studies. Felicity holds a master\u2019s degree in International Migration and Ethnic Relations from Malmo University, Sweden and is currently pursuing a Ph.D., which focuses on refugee resilience in Kalobeyei Settlement-Kenya.<\/p>\n

Dr. Linda Adhiambo Oucho is an established migration expert leading the African Migration and Development Policy Centre (AMADPOC), a research think tank leading policy-based research on migration and development issues in Eastern Africa and beyond. In addition to her position as the Executive Director at AMADPOC, Dr. Oucho is also a Research Advisor for \u201cGendering Migration: Women and Girls Experiences of Gender base Discrimination, Abuse and Violence across Migratory Stages\u201d at Masstrict Univrsity in the Netherland. She holds a PhD in Ethnic Relations from the University of Warwick, where she specialized in international migration of African Women. Her research focuses on internal regional migration patterns within Eastern Africa including projects related to poverty, climate change and more recently youth, employment and migration. In addition, she supports countries to develop their national migration policies in line with the guiding principles outlined in the African Union, Migration Policy Framework for Africa (2018).<\/p>\n

Her PhD in Migration Studies was a sandwich program between Radboud University, the Netherlands, and the University of Ghana. She teaches qualitative migration research methods, gender and migration, transnational migration and diasporas and social change, migration and development among others.<\/p>\n

Dr Lahlou is a Doctor of State in Economic Sciences, University Paris-I, Panth\u00e9on-Sorbonne (Paris, France), 1982. He received his Bachelor of Economics at Mohamed V University, Rabat where he is now a professor and associate researcher. \u00a0Dr. Lahlou has in-depth knowledge of the issue of international migration and analyses the various migratory flows in the Mediterranean and between the Maghreb and the EU. He is carrying out numerous studies on this subject, with the support of academic and research entities (such as IUE in Florence, IAi in Rome, ICMPD in Vienna, IEMed in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bAl Akhawayn University, Ifrane, etc\u2026), and drafted numerous reports with the support of the Moroccan Ministry in charge of SRM and migration affairs, the International Labor Office or German Cooperation (GIZ). Dr Lahlou is an NGO representative to UNESCO promoting, since 2021, an initiative for an International Fund to finance scientific research in Africa.<\/p>\n

Fatma Khalaf is trained in the law and jurisdiction field, which she has developed, since her early years at the university. She had an extreme sensitivity to the theme of the effectiveness of the law and an attachment to the principles of human rights, in general, and the rights of migrants, in particular. She holds a master’s degree in public international law, and her dissertation topic was “the protection of civilians in armed conflicts”, including the protection of refugees and displaced persons.<\/p>\n

Fatma\u2019s professional experience with the Tunisian section of the French NGO, France Terre d’Asile, as head of the permanence for the reception and accompaniment and in charge of an operational assistance to migrants\u00a0has allowed her to not only to immerse herself in migration issues, to identify the various problems that the migrant public meets in Tunisia and to develop evolving modes of protection and accompaniment adapted to the current context of the country. This daily work is accomplished in close cooperation with a diversified network of international organizations (IOM, UNHCR, etc.) and Tunisian associations for the defense of human rights. This expertise has been further confirmed within GIZ in the framework of the “Migration for Development” program, while considering the political stakes of the issue.<\/p>\n

Dr Mehari Taddele Maru is currently Part-time Professor Migration Policy Centre and Academic Coordinator of the Young African Leaders Programme at the School of Transnational Governance and at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He is also a Fellow at the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS), Bruges, Belgium.<\/p>\n

A graduate of Harvard and Oxford universities, he holds a PhD in Legal Sciences from JL Giessen University, Germany, an MPA from Harvard, an MSc from the University of Oxford and an LLB from Addis Ababa University.<\/p>\n

With more than 20 years of management and professional working experience in multilateral bodies, he combines research excellence with a deep knowledge of multilateral systems. Dr Mehari is a member of the Technical Committee of the Tana High-Level Security Forum (modelled on, and uniquely related to the Munich Security Forum for Africa), and he worked as Programme Coordinator for the AU Migration Programme and Legal Expert at the African Union Commission (AUC). Dr Mehari also served as Chief Strategist, Legal Drafter, and Lead Migration Expert in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development\u00a0 (IGAD). He served as Programme Head for Conflict Prevention and Risk Analysis at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and as Director for University Reform at Addis Ababa University, in addition to serving as a member of the university\u2019s Senate and Policy Committee.<\/p>\n

Fatoumata Diop studied Marketing and Private Law, before earning a diploma in marketing techniques at the University Institute of Management and a Masters in Business Law at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of Bamako. In 2015 she opened the ALNABOU study firm (Assistance locale et Nationale au Business et Op\u00e9ration d\u2019Utilit\u00e9 Socio-Economique; Local and National Business Assistance and Socio-Economic Utility Operation). This is a project support cooperative with members of research firms, training organizations, construction companies, event agencies, etc. Its main area of intervention is support for migrants with development and business creation projects. It has set itself the objective of ensuring quality services in terms of studies, advice, and assistance. It is also involved in the construction of transport infrastructure, hydro-agricultural and rural development, water supply and sanitation, civil and industrial buildings. Ms Diop is also a member of FEASO (F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Euro Africaine de Solidarit\u00e9; Euro African Federation of Solidarity) and Collectif des jeunes entrepreneurs du Mali (CJEM).<\/p>\n

Ms. Neila Dorra Jaibi holds a Masters degree in legal science and is currently completing a doctoral thesis entitled \u201cThe process of integration in the European Area of Freedom, Security and Justice\u201d. She is a Member of the Research Laboratory in International and European Law and Maghreb-Europe relations and of the Tunisian Association of Euro-Mediterranean Studies. Since June 2019, member of a working group founded by IDEA (International Institute for Democracy and Electoral assistance). This group was created in the framework of a study project on Article 49 of the Tunisian Constitution of January 27, 2014. Ms. Jaibi is currently teaching at the Faculty of Legal, Political and Social Sciences of Tunis.<\/p>\n
